Clever Raccoon Dog (Korean: 령리한 너구리) is a North Korean animated TV series produced by SEK Studio. The show first aired in 1987 and is still airing on KCTV. The main characters of the show are a chubby raccoon dog(Neoguri), a brown bear(Gom) and a blue cat(Yaung-i), and most episodes revolve around their adventures.

Main Characters[]

  • Neoguri (Raccoon Dog) : A male brown raccoon. He is the main character of the show, always kind and smart. He is responsible for solving cases and explaining scientific principles in most episodes.
  • Gom (Bear) : A male brown bear. He is strong, but often gets into accidents when he ignores Neoguri's advice.
  • Yaong-i (Cat) : A blue cat. She is smarter than Gom, but sometimes ignores Neoguri's advice.

  • Mem-me (Young Goat) : A young goat that is a classmate of Neoguri, Gom, and Yaong-i.
  • Kkolkkol-i (Baby Pig) : A baby pig. He likes toys and drawing.
  • Yeomso Hal-abeoji (Mr. Goat)
  • Guide Kkangchong-i (Guide Bunny) : A female rabbit in a fancy pink dress. She first appears in episode 67 and is a performance and TV show host.
  • Jangsugom (Uncle Bear) : A Gom's uncle. He has a job manufacturing canned food.
  • Yeong-yang Seonsu (Antelope) : A young antelope who participated in a strength competition and won. He is young but very strong.
  • Song-aji Seonsu (Calf) : He is a young cow, but he is big and strong.
  • Metdwaeji Seonsu (Boar) : He is a young wild boar.
  • Thief Vixen : She is a thief who tried to steal Neoguri's robot crab.

  • The early 9 episodes (episode 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 22, 23) were co-produced with French animation studios P.M.M.P. and Col.lma.Son.
  • It was aired on South Korean TV in the early 2000s. However, as relations between North and South Korea deteriorated, they stopped airing.
  • Until episode 63, the art style was not constant for each episode because the character designer was different for each episode.
  • English and international dubs were released on Mondo TV in the mid to late 2000s.
  • The show aired in several European and Middle Eastern countries in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
  • The gender of one of the show's main characters, Yaungi, is unclear. Even the production crew is confused about her gender. In the international dub, Yaungi's gender is fixed as female.
