Home is Somewhere Else (in spanish Mi Casa Está en Otra Parte) is the first Mexican animated documentary released on 2023 and in which it will address 3 different styles of 2D animation in each of the stories presented that speak about the experiences of migrants on their way to the United States.

It will be released on May 4, is produced by Brinca Taller de Animación in association with Shine Global, Virus Mecánico, Llamarada Animación and Casiopea; and will be directed by Carlos Hagerman and Jorge Villalobos.

Plot[]

It tells 3 separate stories about undocumented immigrants in the United States. The first story is about Jasmine, who lives in fear that her parents will be deported; the second is about sisters Evelyn (US citizen) and Elizabeth (undocumented immigrant) who live apart due to their different immigration statuses; and the last one tells the story of José Eduardo Aguilar "El Deportee" who was deported to Mexico at the age of 23 and has since become an activist and advocate for Mexican deportees.

Music[]

The score will be provided by Javier Álvarez, while the soundtrack features songs such as Freedom is Free by Chicano Batman and Clandestino (Clandestine) by Manu Chao.

Release[]

Its release date in Mexican theatres will be May 4, making it the second Mexican animated film to be released during this month (after The Angel in the Clock in 2018).
